Global Report on Food Crises 2025

According to the 2025 edition of the Global Report on Food Crises (GRFC), over 295 million people experienced acute hunger last year, marking the sixth year in a row of rising food insecurity.
The GRFC 2025, launched on 16 May, finds that conflict and other crises are driving hunger to unprecedented levels. Displacement is also on the rise, as violence and natural disasters force people from their homes, leaving many people vulnerable to malnutrition and death. At the same time, climate extremes are becoming more severe, disrupting global food security by damaging harvests and breaking supply chains.
The GRFC is produced annually by the Food Security Information Network, which includes the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF), UN High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR), World Bank, and World Food Programme (WFP).
The main purpose of the GRFC is to provide consensus-based analysis of countries/ territories with food crises and nutrition crises for humanitarian and development stakeholders and policymakers.
