Dr. Johannes Cullman director of the Climate and Water Department at World Meteorological Organization. was a keynote speaker in the Budapest water Summit 2019 . He made a very valuable presentation at the session on Technology To Avoid Water Crises – What Is Missing? on 17 October 2019
In his speach he made several statements that are very important to make awareness and to understand what is missing .
In his speach he stressed on that
“There is not enough acsses to data ,operational problem, we have a fairly okey meteorological data exchange on this World but hydrological data exchange is poor.
Most of the countries on this plant dont know what qualities of hydrological data is.How would you negotiate with your neighbours on a water sharing agreement if you dont know exactly what your resources state is . This cant work.People dont have the confidence of information to engage in a meaningful cooperation in this regard.
He also mentioned about World Water Data Initiative .He stressed that new data sharing paradigm is needed.Data for all.
We need to stop financing partial solutions in hydrological value chain that wil not link what come is before and what comes next.
No more hydrological infrastructure and service structures that are based just on Global Models .Global models are not validate at well enough in those areas especially Africa and some parts of Asia “
