Ilisu Dam Regional Directorate of State Hydraulic Works announced that test of Impoundment process of Ilisu Dam Reservoir has started.
The General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works (DSI) made the announcement that the test of impoundment process has officially started.
In the statement, “Within the scope of the Ilisu Project, where construction works started in 2010, historical and cultural assets were preserved and transferred to future generations, resettlement and environmental studies were carried out to set an example for the world. Testing of the water retention capabilities of the reservoir of the dam has begun.
The citizens were warned to be careful about the loss of life and property,
the statement said:
“Therefore, it is very important to be careful about the safety of life and property and to take the necessary precautions in the vicinity of the dam and reservoir. Ilısu Dam is the second largest dam in the country after Atatürk Dam in terms of body volume and crest length in the category of rock-filled dams with concrete pavement. Ilısu Dam and HEPP, which has a capacity of 4 billion 120 million kilowatt hours with an installed capacity of 1,200 megawatts, is expected to contribute 412 million dollars annually to the national economy. ”
