October 2, 2024
Azerbaijan Association of Small and Medium Entities and Clubs (KOBSKA) decided to apply as the main applicant for the grant project of the State Support Agency for Non-Governmental Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan. An offer was made to the Water Policy Association from Turkey as the co-applicant of the project. After the Water Policy Association accepted the proposal, a project proposal was developed within the scope of the "Supporting the transition of business entities to the green economy" project. The project proposal was accepted by the Azerbaijan Agency.
Purpose and duration of the project
The main purpose of the Project, which will start at the end of this year and last for 4 months; To ensure the transition of small and medium-sized commercial enterprises in Azerbaijan to the green economy and to create conditions for the transition of workplaces (production, offices, etc.) to green offices.
The project aims to encourage the transition to green offices in workplaces (offices, small workshops and other working environments) and to ensure the successful implementation of this transition. The concept of "green office" includes the creation of workplaces that have less impact on the environment, use resources efficiently and are based on sustainability principles. Within the scope of the project, more than 200 people (company employees) will participate in training and seminars, and 10 commercial organizations will be supported to move to the "Green Office".
Project applications
Within the scope of the project, awareness programs and trainings will be organized for business employees on sustainability, energy efficiency and environmental protection. Containers and collection points for the separation and recycling of waste will be established in the offices. Digital solutions such as electronic document systems and e-signature will be implemented in order to minimize paper use. In the project, training will be provided on the efficient use of water and, if necessary, a special approach will be applied to each business. Separate videos containing the changes occurring in each of the selected commercial business lines will be prepared and shared with the public.
Within the scope of the project, studies will be carried out to establish "Green Office" Standards. "Green Office" practices in the business areas supported by the project will be continued and expanded in the long term. These practices will set an example for other businesses.
All stages of the project will receive extensive media coverage. The public will be informed about the implementation of the project with the first press release. Later, television and print media will be actively involved in the process at every stage. At the same time, a press conference will be held regarding the results after the completion of the project.
SPD President Dursun Yıldız further stated the following regarding Project cooperation:
The project cooperation between KOBSKA, the umbrella organization of Azerbaijani SMEs, and the Water Policy Association will yield important results. First of all, studies will be carried out to create "Green Offices", which is the subject of the project, in Azerbaijan. I think that the work to be done within the scope of the project will contribute to the development of this understanding in our country.
In Türkiye, the green agreement action plan was published in 2021 and a transition program was prepared. Green OIZs and Green Industrial zones are among the targets set for a green and circular economy. However, in order to develop this understanding, it is necessary to start with "Green Offices". This project will create important and beneficial results for both countries in disseminating Green Office practices.
Because green office practices aim to raise awareness not only inside the office but also outside the office. The pressure on the environment with the green office, which is very important for those who spend most of their daily lives in the office, will decrease with the spread and development of this application. It will also contribute to increasing social awareness on this issue. For this reason, it is adopted by many institutions.
The cooperation between KOBSKA and SPD will also create the opportunity to cooperate at COP 29, which will be held in Baku in November this year.
