In the vast ecological ballet that shapes our planet, the community of water stakeholders occupies a crucial place. From preserving springs to managing infrastructures, these guardians of “blue gold” work tirelessly to ensure the sustainability of this vital resource. Their involvement extends far beyond pipes and reservoirs, overcoming borders and special interests. Today, it is imperative that we recognize and celebrate the actions of this dedicated community, while collectively committing ourselves to the defense of our common good, water.
Water issues are increasingly complex and pressing. Climate evolution, pollution, scarcity of resources are challenges that require a collective response. Water stakeholders, whether researchers, engineers, citizens or politicians, are mobilizing to develop innovative, sustainable solutions. From rehabilitating aquatic ecosystems to improving distribution infrastructures, their commitment is an example.
The work to be done together is immense. Collaboration between public and private sectors, research and field development are essential to guarantee equitable access to drinking water and ensure responsible management of water resources. It is time to go beyondindividual and national interests and forge solid, lasting partnerships.
It is crucial to defend common causes. The preservation of watersheds, the fight against plastic and chemical pollution, the promotion of energy efficiency in water treatment are major battles that require general mobilization. Water professionals are the standard-bearers of these causes, but they need the support of society as a whole.
On the road to the 10th World Water Forum, the water community deserves recognition and support. Their daily involvement shapes the future of water. It is our duty to support them in defending this vital common good. Let's commit ourselves, hand in hand, to preserving water and securing access to water and sanitation for all, now and for future generations.
