“Common sense and planning are essential”
Water Policy Association President Yıldız said that water management paradigms should be reviewed. Yıldız said, “It is important to develop plans, policies, strategies, common sense, balance sectoral water use and sustainable water management .”
The fourth meeting of Forum Muratpaşa, initiated by Antalya Muratpaşa Municipality in order to address the problems faced by the world, Turkey and cities, and to discuss the possibilities of a better life, took place on December 7, 2024.
The Forum, the Climate Crisis and water issues were discussed, was held in Muratpaşa Municipality Türkan Şoray meeting hall.
At the forum, moderated by journalist-writer Meliha Okur, Hydropolitics Association President Dursun Yıldız, TEMA Foundation Deputy General Manager Dr. Hikmet Öztürk and Turkish Academy of Sciences Member Prof. Dr. Doğan Yaşar took part as speakers.
Mayor of Muratpaşa, Ümit Uysal, pointed out the planned practices implemented against the world’s common problem at the Forum Muratpaşa, which was held under the title of ‘Climate Crisis and Water’, and said, “Can these things be possible without a central system, planning, and a medium-term concept for a country?” So won’t this country have a common mind, a common interest, a central planning? he said.
“Climate Crisis and Water” was on the December agenda of Forum Muratpaşa, which was initiated by Antalya Muratpaşa Municipality with the goal of a democratic and developed Türkiye. At the forum held at Türkan Şoray Cultural Center, Water Policy Association President Dursun Yıldız, TEMA Foundation Deputy General Manager Dr. Hikmet Öztürk and Turkish Academy of Sciences Member Prof. Dr. Doğan Yaşar took part as a speaker. The forum was moderated by journalist Meliha Okur.
Common sense, common interest
In his closing speech of the forum, Mayor Uysal pointed out that from drinking water to agriculture ‘climate crisis and water’ is the world’s important problem areas.
Muratpaşa Town Mayor Uysal also said:
“Can these things be possible without using science? In other words, can these things be possible for a country without a central system, planning, and a medium-term concept? So won’t this country have a common mind, a common interest, a central planning? These need to be done urgently.”
