An estimated 40,000 people have been affected by heavy rains and floods in the Abyei Area, a disputed area on the border between Sudan and South Sudan.
The UN and humanitarian partners are assisting those in accessible areas with food and non-food items. Some areas, however, remain inaccessible due to the flooding.
Major humanitarian needs include food, water and sanitation, non-food items, health, nutrition, and waste management.
More than 364,000 people have been affected by flooding in Sudan this year, with more than 45,000 homes destroyed.
The 2019 Humanitarian Response Plan for Sudan seeks US$1.1 billion to assist 4.4 million people but is only 45 percent funded thus far.
